Please direct all queries regarding your purchase to the relevant legal contracting partner – in other words, to the local furniture store, as only they have all the relevant details of the contract.

Warranty or guarantee claims must be submitted to the retail partner immediately in writing, on presentation of the contract of sale. An exact description of the problem with wide-angle and close-up photos (if possible from a distance of 2–3 m and 0.7 m, respectively) is helpful. Warranty claims are only valid after clarification of responsibility. Liability applies only to the faulty product and not to the entire scope of the order. Faults covered by the warranty are usually rectified by the retail partner.

    Warranty

We voluntarily grant our customers a five-year guarantee, which is verified by the Musterring Quality Pass.

The warranty is a statutory service included in the contract of sale, which every manufacturer must uphold for a period of 24 months. It applies to the entire product without exception.

A guarantee, on the other hand, is a voluntary service of the guarantee provider, meaning exceptions may apply.

As the original purchaser of our brand-name products, you will receive a five-year guarantee from licensed Musterring retail partners. Musterring guarantees that the product is free from material defects and manufacturing faults, in accordance with the evaluation criteria for industrially produced furniture. This guarantee only applies to new products and end users, as defined in § 13 BGB, is not transferrable, and is limited to the geographic scope of the applicable law at the time of purchase.

The guarantee policy includes the statutory warranty of two years and does not restrict the rights granted by the contract of sale with regard to the seller. Regardless of this guarantee, the buyer is entitled to the rights outlined in § 437 BGB, provided that the product was not in fault-free condition at the time of transfer of risk.

For merchandise such as electrical components, built-in sinks, mixer taps etc., the statutory warranty and the guarantee of the respective manufacturer apply.

Guarantee conditions: The guarantee is fulfilled through rectification or replacement at the guarantee provider’s option, and is neither inhibited nor interrupted by these services, i.e. the guarantee ends five years after the date of delivery. Proper storage, transport, assembly, connection and instruction by authorised professionals, as well as compliance with the product information, are mandatory provisions of the guarantee.

The guarantee does not include five years’ guarantee of new condition or an availability guarantee, since replacements or changes can usually only be guaranteed until the respective model or version of the product is discontinued.

Exceptions that do not fall under the guarantee are:

    - Display products

    - Electronic components

    - Upholstered furniture covers

    - Consumables (e.g. batteries, lamps, gas pressure springs etc.)

Only the statutory warranty of two years applies for the products and materials listed above. For display products, we recommend documenting traces of use or faulty functions prior to the transfer of risk. Additional services associated with planning and installation are excluded from the guarantee.

Additionally, the following situations are not covered by the guarantee:

    - Normal wear caused by natural use

    - Improper assembly or services rendered by non-authorised persons

    - Unusual (e.g. commercial) use outside of private domestic use

    - Improper handling of heat, moisture, liquids and care products

    - Damage caused by sharp, pointy, hot or wet objects

    - Environmental influences such as extreme dryness, moisture, light or temperature

    - Wilful destruction, misuse, excessive strain or accidental damage

    - Damage and soiling caused by pets, heat sources or weather

    - Soiling (e.g. sweat, body lotion or hair products)

    - Discoloration caused by medication ingredients (toxic reaction)

    - Any changes caused by substances containing acids, solvents or alcohols

    - Unsuitable cleaning, repair or rectification attempts

    - Damage caused by standing moisture or condensation

    - Typical product properties that do not constitute a defect

    - Maintenance tasks or changes to the contractual object

Damage caused by third-party products is excluded from the guarantee, e.g. damage caused by steam cleaners, hot water bottles, incorrect impregnation and care products, denim colour transfer, other non-colourfast textiles, Velcro fasteners on sports clothing, or sticky residues of substances containing sugar, acids, plasticisers, bleach or solvents.

Sofas can have a wide range of different padding materials and systems, such as high-quality cold foam, inner spring or box spring. Foam is highly elastic, while inner spring provides greater resistance while sitting. Our padding types are as varied as our customers’ tastes: while some like to sink into a soft couch, others prefer a firmer feel. To familiarise yourself with the differences, be sure to try out different styles before purchasing.

Firm padding prevents you from sinking into the seat when you sit and tends to have comparably few creases. Nevertheless, on some models, the upholstery fabric may need to be creased at the corners, depending on the manufacturing technique. Depending on the elasticity and thickness of the upholstery material, there may be larger or smaller creases visible; these do not constitute a quality defect. Firm padding is particularly popular in period furniture, chairs and benches. It makes it easier to stand up, which can be helpful for older people in particular.

Our preferred soft padding can be recognised by its supple feel. The soft, relaxed padding structure creates an impression after sitting or intentional waves in the fabric. Depending on the model, a wavy appearance on the surface of the seat, back and armrests is therefore not a quality defect, but part of the design to ensure optimal seating comfort. To smooth out the surfaces after use, the seat and back cushions should be patted or smoothed outwards.

Some of our suites feature high-quality chamber cushions, which are characterised by a super-soft surface and already have a distinctive waved appearance when new, depending on the design, model and construction. Depending on the model, the chamber cushions may be filled with a flocked material made of fibre, down or foam sticks. The appearance of the chambers, stitching and/or filling material is a material- and model-specific property. To prevent compression of the filling material and the resulting formation of hollows, these usually firmly padded seat and back cushions should be regularly fluffed after use.

    Leather

Leather covers not only guarantee a long lifespan; they also embody beauty and elegance. Quality is important, especially when it comes to leather. It should be soft, supple and breathable. High-quality leather is dyed so that the dye envelopes every individual fibre and all the natural features of the leather are visible. One piece of upholstered furniture is made of five to seven hides. The animals have lived under different conditions and no two hides are alike, resulting in natural variations in texture and colour, as well as natural markings and growth characteristics. These signs of life do not affect the value or the durability of the leather – rather, they ensure that each model is unique.

Coated leathers are dyed through and have a coated surface, usually consisting of a layer of colour and embossing. These leathers are low-maintenance and robust. As a result, they feel cooler and firmer than aniline or semi-aniline leather, but are also less delicate. The natural features are mostly covered by the coating and are therefore barely visible, if at all. However, it is important to note that leather is always a natural product that may feature small scars, tick bites and other similar markings, and that material-specific variations in colour and texture are entirely typical. Colour may transfer in heavily used spots, e.g. on the piping, edges or stitching.

We recommend the Musterring NATURAL LEATHER CARE KIT for cleaning and caring for aniline leather or refined aniline leather . Treat the leather with the aniline cream immediately on delivery. After that, clean and treat the leather with the NATURAL LEATHER CARE KIT every three months. For everyday cleaning, it suffices to occasionally dust the leather with a feather duster or a dry dust cloth. Absorb fresh stains with a terry cloth or household cloth by squeezing it between your fingers. Do not rub! Residual stains can be further cleaned with a slightly damp terry cloth. To avoid water marks, do not wet the cloth too much and do not rub too vigorously. Dry the darkened, wetted area with a hairdryer on the cold setting, to further prevent water marks. Brighten any remaining dark patches with a leather polishing pad and treat with aniline cream. Always test cleaning attempts in an inconspicuous area first.

Note: Our aniline leathers also include pure aniline leather. This leather has no pigmented coating or sealing; all the pores are open. The surface is usually matt and often slightly polished. To avoid changing the matt shine and characteristically soft touch with cleaning products, we recommend using the Musterring SUEDE LEATHER CARE KIT.

We recommend treating coated leather with the Musterring NEW LEATHER CARE KIT (leather sealer) immediately after delivery. After that, clean and treat the leather with the NEW LEATHER CARE KIT every six months. For light colours, we recommend cleaning at intervals of approx. three months (depending on the intensity of use). After two years, use the Musterring “Leather Care Kit with UV Protection” at the same intervals. For everyday cleaning, it suffices to occasionally dust the leather with a feather duster or a dry cloth (do not use microfibre cloths). For stubborn stains or discolorations (e.g. from jeans), use Musterring HEAVY-DUTY LEATHER CLEANER.

Semi-aniline leather is only lightly pigmented (coloured coating). On this leather, the natural grain and hair pores are not covered by the coating, but only lightly protected. Unlike aniline leather, which is open-pored and extremely delicate, semi-aniline leather has better protection. Since only a light coating of colour is applied, the leather remains soft and supple and retains its natural appearance. Natural features such as variations in colour and texture, liver spots, tick bites, scars, hedge scratches, skin folds and grazes are visible and may be incorporated. Semi-aniline leather is less prone to fading than aniline leather; however, with all leather furniture, it is important to avoid exposure to direct light (sunlight, UV light etc.). A patina develops with use and colour may transfer in heavily used spots, e.g. on the edges or stitching.

Aniline leather is leather that has been dyed in a bath using aniline dye. The resulting leather is open-pored and smooth without pigmentation (coloured coating), or at most a light coating on the surface, which preserves the natural appearance of the hide and is generally considered to be very expensive and valuable. Thanks to the lack of pigmentation, aniline leather retains a soft, warm touch and transparent appearance with all of the natural features of the hide, such as variations in colour and texture, liver spots, tick bites, scars, hedge scratches, skin folds and grazes etc. In this leather category, it is acceptable to process closed, incorporated natural features, thus each piece of furniture is unique and will deviate in colour and structure from the sample! Aniline leather tends to fade and develop “speckles” (patina) with use.

Suede is also referred to as nubuck or vintage leather and has a roughened surface on the grained side. This results in a warm, velvety touch and brushed effect. In this leather category, it is acceptable and usual to incorporate closed, healed natural features, meaning every piece of furniture is one of a kind and will vary from the sample material in colour and texture! Due to the roughened surface, existing natural features are initially less noticeable, but can become more prominent depending on use. Suede tends to fade and develop “speckles” (patina) with use.

For everyday cleaning of nubuck leather or suede , it suffices to occasionally dust the leather with a dry dust cloth or to brush it with a soft brush. Areas that have become slightly speckled with use can be cleaned and brushed again with a polishing pad.

Saddle leather is an aniline leather that has been coated with a layer of grease or wax (also known as greased leather or waxed leather). This soft layer causes the leather to quickly develop a patina with use – a highly desirable effect! Depending on the manufacturing method, the patina may already be distinctly visible at the time of purchase.

As part of its regular maintenance and care, saddle leather should be cleaned every three months with our MILD LEATHER CLEANER and regreased with our “Elephant Leather Grease”. Fabric

Just like leather, fabric comes in many different types. Flat weaves are ideal for combining all kinds of yarns and colours, allowing for beautiful fabrics and patterns. Woven velvet is extremely durable and easy to clean. Flocked velvet and flocked fabrics are also characterised by extreme durability and easy maintenance. This fabric type feels extra warm and soft. Vortexed fleece or microfibre is a highly-robust, soft and easy-care material.

Regular vacuuming at low power gets rid of dirt that accumulates during daily use (dust, crumbs, fluff etc.). Do this using a normal household vacuum cleaner with an upholstery nozzle (for velvet and flat woven fabrics, always use a nozzle with soft bristles and brush with the grain of the fabric). To finish, brush the fabric with a soft brush, such as a clothes brush. The fabric should be wiped with a damp chamois cloth every now and then. The moisture keeps the fibres elastic, which has a positive effect on their durability. Upholstery fabrics should also be cleaned and impregnated with our TEXTILE & MICROFIBRE CARE KIT every three to six months.

Synthetic leather may look like leather, but is not made from animal hide. Rather, it is made of textile fabric that is coated with a synthetic material. In essence, the fabric has an elastic, warm and textured surface that is durable and easy to care for.

Even synthetic leather must be kept hygienic and clean. Solvent-based, alkaline or abrasive cleaning products can damage the material. Hard surface cleaners (floor cleaners, plastic cleaners etc.) may clean effectively at first glance, but they damage the synthetic leather in the long term. If sweat, body lotions and grease are not removed, these can also damage the surface. Colourful cushions, blankets or clothing may transfer colour onto the surface. These discolorations must be removed immediately. Excessive wear (stretching at stress points) can also damage the material.

We recommend using mild hand soap (neutral soap) lathered onto a sponge to regularly clean heavily used areas. After that, gently pat dry with a dry towel and never rub forcefully. Important: Stains or discolorations should be treated IMMEDIATELY with a soft brush and mild soapy foam, and absorbed with a dry towel. Never grease synthetic leather or apply any body lotions or leather care products. The protective function of the synthetic leather’s flexible surface can become damaged by rough fabrics, fasteners on clothing, or sharp edges. We recommend renewing this protection against wear and dirt once or twice a year with our Musterring SYNTHETIC LEATHER CARE KIT.

    Furniture surfaces

A piece of furniture is described as solid wood furniture if its side walls, bases and front are made completely of solid wood. This natural material is extremely robust and durable. Its unadulterated natural features are what make it so charming: knots, cracks, swirls, slight irregularities and furrowed surfaces tell the authentic life story of the tree. Every piece of solid wood furniture is distinctively unique. On partial solid wood furniture , only the front is made of solid wood.

To make real wood veneer , thin slices of selected tree trunks are peeled off and applied to solid base boards made of wood material. The aesthetic variation of the veneer, in terms of grain, colour, pore density, knots or swirls, lends the furniture a lively character and gives the appearance of authentic wood.

Decors are natural-looking imitations of wood grain. The differences to real wood are barely noticeable anymore. Decor surfaces are characterised by uniformly smooth or porous textures and extremely easy maintenance.

Lacquer protects wood against environmental influences and is especially popular among proponents of modern aesthetics. Lacquered surfaces pose no risk to health and can be transparent or coloured. They are also available with a matt or high-gloss finish. We recommend using Musterring ECO FURNITURE CLEANER to clean and treat lacquered wood and synthetic surfaces. For high-gloss surfaces, we recommend our HIGH-GLOSS FURNITURE CARE KIT.

Surfaces made of stone or ceramic are right on trend. And it’s no wonder: these materials not only look stunning, but are also highly robust and durable. These same properties are found in Dekton , a highly-resistant composite material with a flawless structure and maximum density. Using Musterring NATURAL STONE SEALER, you can protect stone surfaces against grease and oil stains. For cleaning and care, we have developed Musterring NATURAL STONE CLEANER.

Worktops are available in a variety of materials, from laminate, to wood, to artificial stone. One of the most common solutions is scratch-proof, water-repellent surfaces with a melamine resin coating. We recommend treating melamine-resin-coated surfaces using Musterring WORKTOP CARE.
